Spanish in the Workplace, CD

The Spanish in the Workplace Credit Diploma is designed for students and professionals who need to acquire a basic to intermediate level of speaking Spanish as it relates to the workplace. This program will give these students the much-needed ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking community members as well as understand their needs and cultural backgrounds.

If students choose to transition to another program within the Communication & Creative Arts pathway, they should be particularly aware of the choice points that indicate when a decision to branch off into another program must be made to ensure credits and time are not lost.

Competencies

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

Interpret written language on topics in the workplace.
Engage in workplace conversations.
Interpret information and diverse perspectives that are available through the language and its cultures related to different workplace settings.
Identify differences between the culture studied and the students’ native culture as they relate to the workplace.
Interpret spoken language on topics in the workplace.

SPAN 1020 - First Year Spanish II Credits: 4
SPAN 1075 - Spanish in the Workplace III Credits: 3
SPAN 1085 - Spanish in the Workplace IV Credits: 3

Completion of SPAN 1010 and SPAN 1020 towards completion of the AA, Communication & Creative Arts.

SPAN 2030 - Second Year Spanish I Credits: 4

Milestones

Students are able to communicate at a basic to intermediate level with command forms and inquiry that gathers work-related information, which is beneficial when conducting short interviews with clients, completing intake forms, or communicating imperative information that may require either an employee or a client to follow specific directions.
