Art, AA

The AA in Art program is designed for students who wish to explore and prepare for a wide range of career options in visual arts. Completing this program may qualify students for a variety of employment in visual art fields, including as entrepreneurs, designers, educators, and artists. This program offers coursework intended to transfer to a four-year university, allowing students to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Marketing, or Education. The program also provides students with skills to establish meaningful self-employment in the Art field.

If students choose to transition to another program within the Communication & Creative Arts pathway, they should be particularly aware of the choice points that indicate when a decision to branch off into another program must be made to ensure credits and time are not lost.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Develop knowledge of studio studies, practice, and experiences.
  • Establish methods of historical inquiry, critical thinking, and analysis in visual arts.
  • Develop knowledge of medium(s), technologies, and equipment.
  • Synthesize skills, materials, theory, and history, into personal understanding of moral and ethical issues in visual arts.

  • ART 1110  is a first semester requirement for students in the Art program.

  • Completion college level English.

  • Completion of college level Math and English in the first year.

Third Semester

Course Requirements

Semester Total: 15-16 Credits

Fourth Semester

Course Requirements


  • Completion of the LCCC general education core and eligible for the Interstate Passport.
  • Completion of Art, AA.

Semester Total: 15 -16 Credits

Program Credit Hour Total: 61-64 Credits
