RESP 1500 - Intro to Respiratory Therapy Credits: 3 This course is an introduction to the respiratory therapist’s role as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team with an emphasis on the scope of practice including duties, responsibilities, and qualifications of a respiratory therapist. Students will examine the history of respiratory therapy from conception to its current goals and standing in the healthcare industry. Students will be introduced to healthcare organization structure, management, finance, and regulatory agencies. Students will be introduced to the psychosocial aspects of patient care and ethics in the profession. Students will apply the gas laws and physics as it relates to respiratory therapy. Course Fees: $225.00 This course is offered in the fall semester.
Prerequisite: Admission to the Respiratory Therapy Program
