MUSC 1035 - Aural Theory I

First semester of a four-semester series on the fundamentals of ear training, sight-singing, and dictation skills. Students demonstrate an understanding of notation, intervals, major and minor scales, key signatures, basic rhythm, and basic melodic sequences. Students apply appropriate principles of transforming sound into notation through the writing of melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic examples from dictation, and the transformation of notation into sound with sight-singing with solfege.Credits: 1
Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in MUSC 1030.
