The Biomedical Sciences program may take longer than two years for students whose initial math course is not Calculus I due to the prerequisites of the math courses. Students should enroll in the highest-level math course for which they qualify. Starting in a course above MATH 1400 will reduce the credit hours needed to complete this degree, and may not require a summer semester. Students should work closely with their Advising Team.

Transfer Information
The Biomedical Sciences program prepares students to apply to professional schools, including but not limited to pharmacy, medical, veterinary, and dental schools. Students must work closely with their Advising Team to choose proper prerequisite courses for the school to which they intend to apply.
Various professional schools have different requirements. Students are recommended to check the specific requirements of the school(s) to which they intend to apply when choosing these courses in their program of study. For example, students going to pharmacy schools should take Organic Chemistry I and II, Anatomy and Physiology or Anatomy & Physiology I and II. Students going to medical, veterinary, and dental schools should take General Physics I and II and Organic Chemistry I and II. Additionally, many dental schools are requiring students to take major prerequisites at four-year institutions; students should check with their advising team and the dental school they intend to apply to before registering for courses.
The Biomedical Services program is well suited for transfer to a Bachelor’s level degree. LCCC courses may transfer to institutions in addition to those with formal articulation agreements. Students are strongly encouraged to determine the degree requirements and transfer policy of the specific college/university and program to which they plan to transfer.

The Biomedical Sciences program is designed for students who wish to improve the lives and health of their community by serving as a doctor of medicine, veterinary, pharmacy or dentistry. Students who complete this program achieve an Associate of Science degree with the necessary course work to apply to a four-year university or medical-related professional school. Each university and professional school have specific course requirements; consultations with LCCC’s network of success coaches and faculty mentors is highly recommended to plan coursework that meets the requirements of the student’s transfer school of choice. Students in the Biomedical Science program have the opportunity to explore a range of medical professional fields and can participate in disease-centered biomedical research on our campus.
