The Machine Tool Technology Credit Diploma prepares students for skilled positions as an entry-level manual machinist. Students gain the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to operate a variety of machine tools to be able to produce parts to meet specifications. This program provides training for entry-level employment in a manual machining environment.

If students choose to transition to another program within the Trades & Technical Studies pathway, they should be particularly aware of the choice points that indicate when a decision to branch off into another program must be made to ensure credits and time are not lost.

Competencies


  1. Work safely around machinery in an industrial environment.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools.
  3. Interpret information from a blue print.
  4. Apply critical thinking skills to solve common machining problems.
  5. Operate equipment to produce machined products to required specifications.

First Semester


Choice Points


  • Students who successfully complete the Machine Tool Technology CD can enter the workforce, or return to work on the Trades & Technical Studies, AAS.

  • Completion of Machine Tool Technology, CD.
