The Electrical Technology program prepares students to construct, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits and systems. Basic knowledge, fundamental skills and industry standards based on the National Electric Code (NEC) will be emphasized as students learn to work in the field of electrical technology. The program is designed to prepare students for the ability to enter the workforce as an apprentice electrician. Completion of the Foundation of Skilled Trades credit diploma is required for enrollment in Electrical Technology credit diploma courses.

Competencies
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: - Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers or other components.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
- Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment.

Program Credit Hour Total: 19 Credits

The Electrical Technology program provides a route into an electrical apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers or independent electrical contractors. Electricians may work for construction companies, government entities, in manufacturing or be self-employed.
