 The Information Technology program is specifically designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in fields related to Information Technology. The curriculum offers flexibility in meeting students’ career needs. This program of study leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology. Students must complete three stackable credit diplomas from within the IT Pathway along with a limited selection of general education courses to complete this degree. Additionally, students may sit for stackable industry certifications while concurrently earning an AAS.

Competencies
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: - Demonstrate appropriate use of system software in computer technology.
- Implement network schemes for applicable use cases.
- Select hardware and software applications specific to the needs of various user groups.
- Identify needed changes in hardware and/or software use necessary for efficiency.
Choice Points
- Students interested in IT Fundamentals, CD should take CMAP 1250 and CMAP 1275 .
- Students interested in Datacenter Specialist, CD shoud take CMAP 1615 and CMAP 1920 .
- Enter the job market or continue working on an AAS in Information Technology or Cybersecurity.
Milestones
- Eligible to sit for up to two (2) industry recognized certification exams.
Semester Total: 16-17 Credits
Choice Points
- Students interested in IT Fundamentals, CD should take CMAP 1200 and two (2) of the approved ITF electives
- Students interested in Datacenter Specialist, CD shoud take CMAP 1960 , CMAP 2560 and HMDV 1510 .
- Enter the job market or continue working on an AAS in Information Technology or Cybersecurity.
Milestones
- Eligible to sit for up to one (1) industry recognized certification exams.
- Completion of the IT Fundamentals, CD or the Datacenter Specialist, CD

- Students who have not completed Datacenter Specialist, CD must complete the associated coursework in order to meet prerequisite requirements for the Network Administrator, CD and/or the Virtualization & Cloud Administrator, CD.
Course Requirements

- Completion of the Datacenter Specialist, CD; Network Administrator, CD; Network Infrastructure Specialist, CD; or Virtualization & Cloud Administrator, CD.

Approved Program Electives The following courses are approved Information Technology Fundamental (ITF) electives: Program Comments The information below is intended to be a guide, and does not guarantee regional job placement, job availability, or a specific wage after completion of the program. The potential jobs listed below may require some work experience after graduation. The Information Technology degree is intended to give students the academic coursework helpful in obtaining potential jobs. Possible careers in or related to Information Technology include Computer Support Specialist, User Support Technician, Information Technology Specialist/Technician, Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, and Infrastructure Administrator. Additional information on careers in Information Technology is available through Career Coach. Transfer Information This degree is well suited for those who may be interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science, Applied Management degree at Laramie County Community College. LCCC courses may transfer to institutions in addition to those with formal articulation agreements. Students are strongly encouraged to determine the degree requirements and transfer policy of the specific college/university and program to which they plan to transfer. |
