The Business & Accounting program is designed for students who wish to explore and prepare for a wide range of career options in business, accounting, finance, management, marketing, or related fields. This program offers all the necessary course work to transfer to a four-year university, allowing students to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, or Marketing.

Competencies

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

Students choosing to pursue a degree which is intended for employment after their Associate’s degree will need to switch programs of study following their first semester. Students should work with their Advising Team to make this change.

Possible careers in or related to Business & Accounting include Director of Accounting; Tax Director; Financial Manager; Human Resources Management, including compensation and benefits and training and development managers; Controller; Internal Auditor; Supply Chain Management, including production, transportation, storage, and distribution managers; Tax Services (Public Accounting); Tax Accountant; Construction Management; Cost Accountant; Financial Analyst; General Accountant; Budget Analyst; External Audit and Assurance Services; Management Analyst; Economist; Operations Specialist, including logisticians; Financial Services Agent; Sales Agent, including wholesale, manufacturing, advertising, and real estate; Market Research Analyst; and Human Resource Specialist, including labor relations, compensation & benefits and training & development specialists.

In addition to a bachelor’s or master’s degree, some careers may require or prefer candidates with professional designations such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Transfer Information

The Business & Accounting Associate of Science is well suited for transfer to a Bachelor degree program. Possible options at the Bachelor’s level include degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Professional Land Management, and Construction Management.

LCCC courses may transfer to institutions in addition to those with formal articulation agreements. Students are strongly encouraged to determine the degree requirements and transfer policy of the specific college/university and program to which they plan to transfer.
