The Applied Management program is designed to prepare students for supervisory and managerial careers. Students may ultimately manage their own small businesses or use their skills to manage existing businesses. The two-year occupational program combines academic study with work-related experience and leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree, allowing students to gain meaningful employment after only two years of college-level coursework or transfer directly into a Bachelor of Applied Science degree.

If students choose to transition to another program within the Business & Accounting pathway, they should be particularly aware of the choice points that indicate when a decision to branch off into another program must be made to ensure credits and time are not lost.

Competencies


Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Apply accounting principles of financial accounting for a small business.
  • Demonstrate effective business communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the supervisory role in business.
  • Apply management concepts when making supervisory decisions for a small business.

  • Completion of ENGL 1010 MATH 1400 , and ACCT 2010  as prerequisites for other courses.
  • Common Business first semester completed

The Applied Management degree is intended to give students the academic coursework helpful in obtaining the potential jobs. Possible careers in or related to Applied Management include Administrative Services Manager; First-Line Supervisors of Administrative or Personal Service Workers; Executive Administrative Assistants; Customer Service Representatives; and First-Line Supervisors of Food Preparation and Serving Workers.
