The Human & Public Services program is designed for students who wish to explore options within government, social services, education, and law. This program offers coursework to transfer to a four-year university, allowing students to pursue a baccalaureate degree or further education in related fields.

Competencies


Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Apply discipline-specific methodological approaches to examine the contributions and impacts of human interaction on cultural diversity and society.
  2. Analyze the effects of discipline-specific historical contexts on the development of the discipline and its current practice.
  3. Analyze how diverse cultural contexts influence human behavior at the individual, societal or cultural level.
  4. Evaluate discipline-specific theoretical approaches that impact human interactions and cultural diversity of society.

First Semester

  • Students pursuing an AA in Criminal Justice, AAS in Paralegal, AA in Education, or AS in Psychology should change programs of study following their first semester to ensure their total credits and time to graduation are minimized.

  • Completion ENGL 1010  as a prerequisite for other courses.

Choice Points


  • Students pursuing Elementary Education must take MATH 1100  instead of STAT 2070 .
  • Students choosing to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, History, or Political Science should work with their advising team to select from approved electives.

The Human & Public Services program is intended for students who are wishing to transfer to a university and obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Most of the potential jobs in the fields of government, social services, education, and law require you to transfer and continue your education at the next level.

LCCC courses may transfer to institutions in addition to those with formal articulation agreements. Students are strongly encouraged to determine the degree requirements and transfer policy of the specific college/ university and program to which they plan to transfer.
