The WHP Basic Academy Credit Diploma is designed for students who wish to prepare for careers as a Wyoming Highway Patrol officer. This is a closed program encompassing the first step of the WHP Academy - basic training. Enrollment in this program is limited to cadets accepted by and enrolled in the Wyoming Highway Patrol Academy. The coursework in this program of study is embedded in the Patrol Peace Officer AAS. Students are also eligible for immediate employment.

Competencies
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: - Explain the U.S. and Wyoming criminal justice systems and laws
- Develop teamwork through collaboration
- Demonstrate critical thinking in practical and theoretical problems specific to the day to day operations of a Peace Officer
- Develop decision making processes used in Law Enforcement
- Explain ethical standards specific to the day to day operations of a Peace Officer
- Identify cultural differences within communities
- Justly enforce the law in the State of Wyoming Demonstrate the skills required for a cadet completing the basic law enforcement academy
