SLPA 1506 - Introduction to Phonetics Credits: 3 Students are introduced to the articulatory foundations regarding the description and classification of speech sounds. Students learn the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), physiological properties of the speech mechanism, methods of transcription and dialectal variations. Students describe sounds based on distinctive features. Students discriminate and identify the correct production of phonemes.
Prerequisite: Completion of SLPA 1500 .
