SPPA 1100 - American Sign Language I Credits: 4 An introductory course presenting basic syntactic knowledge, vocabulary, and conversational skills in American Sign Language (ASL). Students use the direct experience method (using ASL with no voice) to enhance language acquisition. Students also explore vital aspects of the deaf culture and community and the concept of deafness as a cultural minority.
Prerequisite: Completion of ENGL 0810 .
