Automotive Body Repair Credit Diploma

The Automotive Body Repair program is designed to prepare the student for employment in the automotive body repair business as well as to meet the needs of those who want to upgrade their skills or meet personal objectives in auto repair. This program is designed to prepare the student for entry into the workforce.

Competencies

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate use of safety measures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selection for daily tasks in the Collision Repair/Refinishing shop, which comply with OSHA and EPA standards.
  2. Demonstration appropriate surface preparation, paint mixing and matching procedures for automotive painting and refinishing.
  3. Repair and replace body panels and provide adjustments to non-structural automotive damage.
  4. Repair structural automotive damage using inspection, accurate measurements, welding, cutting, alignment, and replacement.
  5. Apply problem-solving skills to develop and execute an all-inclusive repair plan for a collision damaged vehicle, including task analysis, application, execution and reflection.
  6. Apply collaborative skills in the context of auto body repair to accomplish a specific vehicle repair while meeting a specified deadline.

If students choose to transition to another program within the Trades & Technical Studies pathway, they should be particularly aware of the choice points that indicate when a decision to branch off into another program must be made to ensure credits and time are not lost.
