The AA Music program is designed for students who wish to explore and prepare for a wide range of career options in music. Within the music program, students will have the opportunity to study and perform music from a variety of styles throughout history and across multiple cultures. Completing this program may qualify students for employment in areas related to music. This degree offers coursework intended to transfer to a four-year university, allowing students to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Music, Music Education (vocal or instrumental), or Music Performance (vocal or instrumental). Students seeking to complete a major in music, or who are interested in music courses, should seek the advice of a music faculty member in addition to their Advising Team.

Competencies
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Apply appropriate terminology in music courses.
- Demonstrate basic analytical knowledge in music in its cultural contexts.
- Develop basic musicianship skills.
- Demonstrate basic analytical knowledge in music in its historical contexts.
- Develop high level individual performance skills on a major instrument.
- Demonstrate fundamental teaching concepts for majors pursuing the Music Education Field of Study.
- Develop high level ensemble performance skills on a major instrument.

- Completion college level English.

- Music students should take MUSC 1040 , MUSC 1045 , and MUSC 1295 in the second semester to stay on track to program completion.
- ~ Diction for Singers is only required for majors that have declared voice as their instrument.~
